The Club executive has decided to sell off the remaining stock of club racers to anybody who wants one. It had originally been planned to sell them at Heydenshore but there were no tables available so now we’re offering them to you via the miracle of the electronic media !! The racers are sold to you as kits for the price of only $20.00. They were designed for .15 or .25 size engines.
One of the completed kits is pictured here.

The design of these models came from the fertile mind of Don Mitchell and are supurb flyers. They have a wing area of 600 sq inches , weigh just over 3 pounds (50 oz) which gives them a wing loading of only about 12 oz/ sq ft -- which explains their spirited performance. A big plus is that they are made primarily from coreplast plastic sheet and so are very rugged. The guys used them for pylon racing for several years where mid-air collisions & hitting the ground (it’s called crashing!) were relatively common occurrences - and more often than not - minor repairs would get the ship right back into the racing.
There are two slightly different versions – one with a plywood mount precut to accept an LA-15 engine and a later version with more robust maple beam mounts aimed at accepting a .25 size engine. Both have the rest of the airframe made from coreplast plastic and are available in red, yellow, orange or blue coreplast with white under surfaces. They accept standard radio equipment however many of the guys fitted theirs with Hitek HS-81 or HS-85 metal gear servos to save weight. Assembly of the supplied engine mount , fin, tip plates, landing gear and mounting the engine, fuel tank & installing the radio takes the average guy several evenings. Conversion to electric would be easy. The price of 20 bucks is aimed primarily at recovering the cost of the materials which went into the construction of these models and is a real bargain. If you’re interested in buying a kit or want more info contact Don Cavanaugh at (905) 579-9907. The flying season is coming up soon!!
